" A merry, lively group," is how friends describe the workers of Wide River Winery. We hope you'll agree after visiting the winery.

Customers often ask about the wine names with the legal theme. We have a lot of lawyers in our family. Family members, friends and customers have all joined in the effort to name the wines. This same crew is devoted to quality control through regular tasting!

Here is the crew:

Paul Quinn's first contribution was to build the walnut bar in the tasting room in 2007. From there he's gone on to remodel the tasting room, build the addition and the kiosk at North Park mall and make the signs that point the way. Paul took WRW's wholesale business to one of the best in the state. A native of Northern Ireland, Paul is admittedly obsessed with growing the winery. "I think of it constantly," he says.

Ann Pelton lived in sunny south Florida for ten years before growing weary of traffic congestion and missing the Midwest friendliness. She was the winery's first employee after coming back home in 2007. Ann's forte is retail sales and administration. Her favorite customers can be found at the Davenport farmers market.

Dorothy O'Brien founded the winery in 2005 after years of organic gardening, cooking, grape growing and home winemaking. Her vision was to celebrate locally grown, fresh and delicious food. The idea of the earth supporting a family and bringing enjoyment and fun to visitors motivated the enterprise. Dorothy continues her devotion to winemaking.

Bud Matherly of Coal Valley, Illinois joined the team last year as assistant wine maker. He has years of wine making experience and is a welcome addition to the team. He is our bottling line and filtering expert.

Kyle Frahm graduated from Clinton High School in May 2010. He joined the winery while still in high school. Kyle's duties include processing grapes, pruning the vineyard, racking wine and winery improvement. At last glimpse he was varnishing the windowsills.

Martha O'Brien joined the winery in the summer of 2010. Her specialty is marketing. First she gets your attention on Facebook, Google or Trip Advisor. Then she makes your winery experience special through her knowledge of wine and friendly interest.

Matt Cargill joined the winery in the summer of 2010 as an intern working in the vineyard. When the weather isn't right for outside work, he can be seen helping Paul on the wholesale route. Matt is a 2010 graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology architecture program.

Brenda Kilburg is a regular on the bottling line. Brenda's hard work and good cheer make bottling a breeze.

We've had a lot of fun making this wine. We hope you enjoy your experience at the winery, the tasting, the river view and the beauty.
