Summer 2010

Get ready for the Iowa Wine Trail!

Winter 2010

The winter of 2010 finds the Wide River Winery crew grateful for your support throughout 09. We had a great December--thanks to all that holiday toasting and sipping of Wide River Wine. Thanks to all those visiting the North Park kiosk and to the brave souls who made it out to the winery despite winter snow storms.

The current buzz is around Valentine's Day. We are featuring Be Mine again. This is Merry Berry reincarnated in a sweet heart bottle-- the same Niagra grape wine with fresh cranberries for that sweet/tart pow with great color. We are planning to celebrate Valentine's Day at the winery on the weekend of February 12-14. Chocolate will be featured prominently. Stay tuned for details.

Our bottling plans over the next several weeks include more Be Mine, and replenishing the supply of Pursuit of Happiness and the port, Ms. Issippi. We will also be getting in some grape juice from Michigan. We've already exhausted our supply of Niagra from the fall of 2009! Taking in the fruity, grapey aroma of fermenting grape juice is half the fun of working in a winery

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Spring 2009: Happy Spring from the winery!

We are anticipating great weather for the weekend and hoping you might consider a trip out. If you can't make it over the weekend, we are now open during the week as well. Our new hours are Monday-Friday from 11-5 and Saturday-Sunday from 11-6.

We have bottled our Felony Red--back after a hiatus of almost a year. Felony is a dry red wine that has developed a loyal following. Last year's won a gold medal at the Taster Choice International Wine Competition and we have high hopes for this year. Our new Felony contains Norton, Leon Millot and Cabernet Sauvigon. After extensive blending, tasting, retasting and retasting, the family has pronounced it delicious. (A lot of thoughtful tasting has gone into producing this wine!)

Spring Fever is a seasonal addition. It's made of Traminette grapes and is a Sweety.

We are welcoming new wholesale accounts on the Illinois side of the river. They include Sullivans in Morrison, and the Hy-Vees in Rock Island, Milan and in Moline on John Deere Road and Avenue of the Cities. Paul Quinn, our wholesale guru, has been busy!

Also thanks to Paul, we have new DOT signs on Highway 67 announcing our presence. So, sad to say the "Winery Open" truck has been retired but we are proud of the new signs.

Ann has returned after having her baby boy--Anthony. This adorable guy is almost 4 months old and has put in a few hours at the winery already. He's a great snoozer.

See below for our recipes for chicken putanesca and heart burns served at last weekend's food and wine pairing for the Iowa Wine Trail.

Cheers!
